Mizzou at #7 in the AP Poll, #8 in the Coaches Poll.
I'm not sure about them being behind 1-loss Alabama or an MSU team that squeaked by so-so Northwestern. In any case, they'll probably be higher in the BCS standings.

This. You really shouldn't be going for 2 until what is very likely your last possession or maybe your next to last possession. In the case of Stoops, if you take the easy point and get the deficit to 8, you have 6 minutes to get the ball back for one last shot.greenback44 wrote:I absolutely hate it when coaches go for two before the 4th quarter. But with six minutes left, I don't know that much can happen that makes the decision that important. We can build some wacky scenarios, but I wouldn't want to see how much the officials will let the home team get away with while defending against a two-point conversion attempt that would tie the game in the last minute or so.MrCrowesGarden wrote:I always learned that as a coach you put off the 2-pt conversion for as long as you can.

I'd say that those rankings are about right. Probably 5th or so in the BCS.ThatGuy wrote:Mizzou at #7 in the AP Poll, #8 in the Coaches Poll.

6-0 Boise St. being ahead of 8-0 Auburn is just stupid.

They still have Alabama left. If both ALA and AUB win out to that game, whoever wins that will almost certainly jump Boise heading into the SEC Championship. The SEC West is better than most entire conferences. The Third Man wrote:6-0 Boise St. being ahead of 8-0 Auburn is just stupid.

Re: Mizzou football 2010
Once again, Mizzou really got some love from the computer rankings this week. There are six computer rankings, and Missouri placed 1st in two, 2nd in two, 3rd in one, and 10th in the other (although this last ranking has TCU in 1st, Alabama in 3rd and Florida ranked in the top 25).
I have a feeling it will take beating Nebraska and rolling through the rest of the schedule before the human polls give Mizzou the same kind of credit. It would be interesting to see what the system comes up with if Auburn, Oregon, TCU, Boise State, Michigan State and Mizzou end up with unblemished records. Granted, that's looking way into the future, but I would be especially interested to see Missouri's fate as the Big XII champion.

Re: Mizzou football 2010
Almost undoubtedly the SEC and Big XII champs will get in to the BCS game if they're undefeated due to the Conference Championship game where Mi St, Boise, TCU and Oregon will all be idle and the fact that the SEC and Big XII are the best conferences. Even a one loss SEC champ gets in above everyone else. It's absurd to think a conference that has won the last 4 BCS championships doesn't get in, imoThatGuy wrote: I have a feeling it will take beating Nebraska and rolling through the rest of the schedule before the human polls give Mizzou the same kind of credit. Not sure if the Big XII is automatically the 2nd best conference. Big Ten and Pac 10 are right there with them.
