I bet a lot of people around here would be real fun at the Vietnam Memorial.
Do you guys really expect him to not use to largest influencing factor in his life in his campaign?

Whether you agree with Mccain's position on the war or not doesn't matter. The POW thing is mentioned because it shaped him and because it puts him in the light of having formed his decision while being sympathetic to the tragedies of war. This isn't some favored son who's never faced horror and atrocity. Whether you agree with him or not, you do have to acknowledge that he has an understanding of the horror of war. That's why it is constantly highlighted.

I'm getting worked up too. I'm sitting here with my wife who is a McCain supporter and I'm an Obama supporter. Grrr

That's a good thing Lipp. I'm probably going to vote for Obama, but I was always listen to the other side because you never know what's going to happen in the next two months. Sadly, the vast majority of people out there only see an R or D and vote according only to that.stlouie_lipp wrote:Man, I'm getting too worked up for someone who hasn't decided who to vote for yet.

So he's saying something that everyone on the planet already knows?Socnorb11 wrote:Basically McCain is saying "The country is a mess, and my party is mostly responsible for that mess, but you should go ahead and give my party another chance".
You make this sound like this is some huge revelation...do you want him to say "Hey! Our party has RULED the last 8 years, we're going to keep doing ALL THE SAME THINGS!!!"
He'd lose a lot more votes that way then saying what he's saying, which is the truth

I don't think anyone here is asking you to bow down to Obama. You seem to have some a complex about that or have whole heartedly bought into the media fueled messiah business.BW23 wrote:Wow. I forgot. Bow down to Obama and slam the conservatives at every turn. Right? Wanna go back through the other 200+ pages and talk to all the freakin' liberals that have said much, much worse?clevername wrote:do you realize how condescending and dismissive that is?BW23 wrote:Well, when he finally does say what he'll do, if he ever does, then you're right. Obamamania is running wild because of what a great orator he is not because of his positions.
I disagree with everything that Obama stands for. I rarely hear him say anything of substance. I've heard SO many people say how they like him. When asked why, they can't name a single thing he actually is running on.
But if that's condescending and dismissive, so be it. I'd say it's pretty darn lame compared to most of the crap in this thread.
What's condescending and dismissive is your contention that the man hasn't said anything of substance and is only garnering support because he can speak well. Believe it or not, people agree with him. A lot of people.

Palin-mania? All I really see is her getting slammed....left and right. She gave a good speech last night. But she's getting slammed by the liberal media. Last night was the first time most people have even heard her mutter a word. What's your point?clement wrote:That's about as simplistic of an analysis as it gets. Just curious, what is exactly the reason for the Palin-mania that's running wild?
Obamanmania is simplistic. And most of the conservative commentators I watched said that it was a good speech but lacked meat.
And they're right. It was a very good speech. And it was right for the reason he was giving it. Maybe I missed all of the meat in the few minutes I stepped away. I just couldn't stomach the entire thing, I guess.

Does John McCain actually know when the Russian Empire was? And does he know that it hasn't existed for close to 100 years?

Re: Obama/Biden vs. McCain/Palin: The Thread
Obama growing up as a black man in America probably had a great deal to do with shaping him. He's certainly not playing that card....... not once. Why? Because he doesn't stand to gain politically from it. McCain stands to gain political leverege from being a POW.07come11 wrote:Whether you agree with Mccain's position on the war or not doesn't matter.
