I totally agree with your first point...clement wrote:I know almost nothing about her so I don't have much of an opinion yet. But I agree with those who said that this choice effectively takes the primary argument McCain has been making against Obama right out of their hands. That rousing ovation that McCain received also takes out their second most consistent argument against Obama (his celebrity-status).
I think this pick does lend itself to some criticism of McCain's judgment because it doesn't make a lot of sense as a pick for the job of vice-president. Whether it's a good pick in terms of votes remains to be seen. When Mondale picked a relatively unknown woman for his running mate, a lot of people thought it would help him but it didn't help him at all.
But because the republicans in Ohio cheered for McCain he now has celebrity status? Were they all supposed to sit on their hands?
Did you watch any of Obama's speech last night? I thought I was watching a cult meeting..
It borderline scared the hell outta me

And young voters who are un-educated about the issues, when asked why they are voting for Obama, say "Because he's such an awesome speaker!"GatewaySnayke wrote:Right, it's having good ideas. Trust me, I work a ton with kids ages 18-25, and that's always one of the first things people say they love about Obama
That scares the crap outta me, because it shows NOTHING in the way on how he's going to lead a country

Pat Buchanan:
A bigger political gamble than an elitist-arugla eating-Muslim radical-black supremist-inexperienced-community organizing-William Ayers loving-socialist black guy Barack Obama?? That's a pretty strong statement.Biggest political gamble I believe just about in American political history...that is not hyberbole. I can think of no choice of VP that approaches this.

Younger voters are impressionable. I'm less scared of people voting for Obama because of his rhetoric than people voting for McCain because Obama is black.JG1982 wrote:And young voters who are un-educated about the issues, when asked why they are voting for Obama, say "Because he's such an awesome speaker!"GatewaySnayke wrote:Right, it's having good ideas. Of course it has something to do with it. Half the battle is having good ideas. The other half is convincing everyone else that they're good ideas.

Unfortunatly, he lost the first half of the battle you mentionedSocnorb11 wrote:JG1982 wrote:And young voters who are un-educated about the issues, when asked why they are voting for Obama, say "Because he's such an awesome speaker!"GatewaySnayke wrote:Right, it's having good ideas.
