I'm sorry sigh. That's roughsighyoung wrote: ↑December 3 20, 7:04 amMy mother's dying from the after-effects of the coronavirus. She was asymptomatic but was weakened by the virus, and then caught pneumonia. I was called on Saturday with permission to make brief compassionate visits, but it's clear she's shutting down. She no longer eats. She is sleeping all the time, so she's not in pain.
I feared the virus would do her in, and it looks like I was right.

Re: Coronavirus
With my recent bout with covid, I had to visit the doctor a couple times, and the entire staff there got it at one time or another.
For me, the worst of it was the first 3-4 days. That was when I had a fever, chills, and was really achy. Then I had a pretty bad cough and cold-like symptoms for another 10 days or so after that. I've now had it a little over 3 weeks, and I am still not completely over it. I went back to the doctor yesterday because it feels like I have an ear infection. Turns out I don't and this is just a remnant of covid. I still have a mild cough and both of my ears have a dull pain. The doctor said this could last 1-2 more months, which is what has happened with similar cases to mine. My wife was lucky though and she was pretty much back to 100% after about 2 weeks.

Re: Coronavirus
FWIW, over thanksgiving break i got what felt like a cold does for me, how it starts, etc. by sunday i definitely had something, cough, fatigue, hot/cold issues, runny nose, etc. anyways, by the following weds i got a covid test and on thurs night got a negative result (pretty fast turnaround!). luckily the university, my employer, has been pro active all year and has a good testing program in place. very easy. i also though, live alone and could slouch around the house to recover until wednesday.
i guess this doesn't help other than i know that situation, that line of "is it cold or is it covid?". i suppose just play it by ear and try to keep distanced? it really felt like a cold to me and i didn't lose taste, have breathing issues, or some of those, perhaps, covid specific symptoms. though there seems to be so much overlap in symptoms it's probably worth getting tested...not only for health/safety but for peace of mind.
my boss' husband tested positive for covid a few weeks back, think he's got it from one of his students. clearly my boss had exposure and she started getting cold symptoms but she got 2 negative results and so did her son....so, yeah, it's all very weird.

Re: Coronavirus
Yeah, I'm probably going to go to CVS drive through and get tested tomorrow. Do I need a doctor recommendation or appointment? I guess I will research it.
