Here's the post I made, featuring the article about his plan:

viewtopic.php?f=1&t=64494&p=1956133&hil ... s#p1956133

While it wasn't explicitly stated by MLB in that article, the sentiment that was expressed in that late March article was that it would affect the 2021 season. I thought I remembered a later article stating that his proposal was a non-starter.

I'm sure they aren't worried about competing with the later stages of the NFL season at all.

wasnt the reasoning for that was because not much was known about the virus and they thought the threat of spread was much greater indoors?
yes indoors is still a problem

the latest proposal I saw was the rays would play in their ST facility to get out of the dome for example

unfortunately the owners hold all the cards. they can cancel the season and they'll all be alright and still filthy rich...the entry level players are the ones hurt by all this

I wonder if the owners are concerned about liability with the virus too. Say they start playing indoors and until nearly Christmas and the virus comes back in another big wave and players get infected for example. I would assume they have to be concerned about potential lawsuits and liabilities there. I question if they just want to get a quicker, shorter season out of the way and get some revenue or none eat it and don't play at all to minimize their risk.

virus 'coming back': It's never left. It has been going down in places that were first hit hard but it has been in an upward trajectory everywhere else since the beginning.

Ken Rosenthal and Evan Drellich of The Athletic report that more than 100 players met digitally Thursday and "reaffirmed virtually unanimous support" that they will not agree to a second reduction in pay.

The union already agreed in March to prorated salaries based on the number of games played and they appear to be drawing a line in the sand at not taking additional cuts. Meanwhile, the owners don't want to play any more than 50 games at the current financial agreement, believing they will continue to lose money the more games that are played. Commissioner Rob Manfred appears to have the power to set a schedule with the number of games of his choosing, and it's looking like it might come to that if neither side is willing to budge.

Jeff Passan of ESPN reports that MLB's discussions with owners have focused on a 48-game season.

We've heard that the number of games the owners would like to play is around 50, but now we have a more specific number. The MLBPA, meanwhile, wants to play at least 82 games and is not willing to accept anything less than being paid full pro rata. Concessions will obviously need to be made for a deal to cross the finish line, and the two sides are running out of time if they want the season to start in early July.

MLB is really going to f this up. They'll cancel this season. Then they'll partially f up next year. Then they'll go on lockout. MLB is a terrible organization. Manfred sucks.

There's no potential golden situation that MLB can't utterly [expletive] up.

Imagine if baseball was the first sport back. Imagine the TV ratings, imagine giving this country something good and traditional and entertaining. Imagine the goodwill the sport would earn.

Nope, the owners needed concessions on top of concessions.
