1. Cover the eggs in a saucepan with water.
2. Heat the pot on high heat and bring the water to a full rolling boil.
3. Turn off the heat, keep the pan on the hot burner, cover, and let sit for 10-12 minutes.
4. Strain the water from the pan and run cold water over the eggs to cool them quickly and stop them from cooking further.
5. Peel the eggs under a bit of running water.

Awesome! You have my permission to take the day off. My best is 255. Are you in a league? That's how I got my average up into the 180's. Haven't bowled in over a year though.heyzeus wrote:I bowled an all time high last night (240). I get today off, right?

Yep, I've been intermittently in a league since I was in elementary school. As good St. Louisans, both my parents and grandparents used to bowl at the Tropicana Lanes. I'm not generally that good (average usually in the 155-160 range), so this game was a Big Deal.Joe Shlabotnik wrote:Awesome! You have my permission to take the day off. My best is 255. I was in a league with my mom at Sunset Lanes on Watson. Wonder if it's still there.

Re: Random musings
I just passed by there the other day and it is still there. I used to bowl there almost 15 years ago in a league as well. That was where I picked up the nasty habit of smoking while I drank. I never had my own ball or shoes and my average always hovered right at 160. Then I started having a few cigarettes while drinking and bowling in the middle of our last season and by the end my average was at 181 and I was consistently putting up a 600 series. I don't really believe that the smoking caused my bowling to get that much better but I do think it helped by relaxing me and helping me not obsess on every little detail and just bowl. I still never should have started smoking though and really need to quit.Radbird wrote:I was in a league with my mom at Sunset Lanes on Watson. Wonder if it's still there.
I haven't bowled in years but a 263 is my all time high back when I was bowling almost year round there at Sunset.
My favorite memory from that league actually happened on a night where I wasn't even there. I was playing in a broomball league that overlapped a little and another guy on team filled in for me. After broomball ended I checked my phone and saw a picture message showing a perfect game. My friend claimed he bowled a 300. I didn't believe him at all so the next day I called up to the alley and asked if anybody had bowled a 300 in the league the night before. The guy got all huffy and said, "You mean the guy with the 149 average?" That's all I needed to hear, thanked him and hung up laughing. My friend wasn't trying to mess with me, he actually bowled a 300. The other guys in the league were not happy for him. They were pissed. They didn't like the fact that a guy half their age (he was about 25 at the time) who carried a 149 average and didn't use the thumb hole bowled a perfect game. The league was full of crotchety old men.
