I would still believe someone could write an interesting article about why Dex and Carp should trade spots in the lineup and yet believe homosexuality is a mental illness. Doesn't mean I would want to read it, but apparently someone at SB Nation thought this knuckledragger had some talent

They write about the culture of the game, I'd say. And they have people from all different political bents there. One of the guys they recently hired seems like a chud but at least isn't saying "homosexuality is a disease."

This really isn't about politics for me though and never has been. This has been about nearly hiring a guy who doesn't think of LGBT as people.

If we ever make contact with alien life, it will not end well no matter what our intentions are because the government will be involved.

Once you get any government involved the military and departments of homeland defense will then have a key role and any peaceful relations are over because they have too much influence in most governments. When it is your job to find threats that aren't obvious and defend against them, everything is a threat.

Nah. I've just read a few books in a row now where contact with the unknown goes bad at the beginning because the security forces attitude causes things to get ugly and I started thinking that if your job is to look for threats from external influences, everything is naturally going to be perceived as a threat. If it wasn't, you wouldn't be doing your job. At the same time, if you are a government leader (at any level), you are ultimately responsible for the safety and security of the population so you can't just dismiss the concerns over those in charge of security so... a first contact would probably end badly unless everybody on Earth suddenly becomes a peace loving population.

I think the perfect evening may be sitting on the couch watching the game, gf laying on the couch with her head on my stomach as she reads a book, and dog curled up beside us. Sometimes everything lines up to be perfect.
