Liberalism is defined as a philosophy based on the values of freedom and equality.
Progressive has the word progress right in it and everyone knows it's good to make progress in the world.
Those things sound way too complimentary for right-wing hucksters to sell to low income conservatives in order to keep them valuing the wrong things. Cultural grievance politics over economic and social justice, not just for minorities but for them too.
My Dad has this grudge against the current members of Lynyrd Skynyrd. It's weird because I got in the car with him to go to this funeral and he has the Southern Rock station on XM but every time a "new" LS song comes on he complains.
