Re: Random musings
I think I'm going to start trying to do just simple, random nice things for people on a much more regular basis.
This morning I was on the bus on my way in and there is a mom who takes her four young girls to a daycare across the street from the elementary school that two of the girls go to and two of the girls were coloring in one of the coloring books I gave to them recently while a third girl was pouting and about to throw a tantrum because she had to sit on the other side of the aisle and couldn't help them. She even had her colored pencils in hand trying to sneak across the aisle. Their mom didn't think it was as cute as I did. But seeing them enjoy something as simple as coloring books made me happy. I had seen them all coloring one Friday morning and for some reason after getting home from the bar the next night, I went online and ordered coloring books.
I figured it would be weird for a stranger to buy coloring books for kids he doesn't know so when I gave them to their mom, I told her that they were being given away at an event I was at the weekend before. I figure that makes it even less weird.
A couple of weeks ago I also found out that a friend's daughter said that her favorite gift in the past year was a pogo stick (she's 8). The friend who told me that didn't know that I was the one who bought it for her. I showed up at the bar one night and the conversation between a few regulars was about how her daughter really wanted a pogo stick but she was afraid she'd get hurt or one of her friend's would. I just kept minding my own business and stayed out of the conversation... while I ordered a pogo stick and had it delivered to her house without telling her. It was only $16 on clearance from Walmart with free shipping.
I never told her that it was from me but my name was obviously on the paperwork when it arrived so she knows. I was at Mardi Gras when she sent me a picture of her daughter bouncing around the driveway with a huge smile on her face.
I think I'm going to make an effort to do a lot more random stuff like that just because seeing kids happy makes me happy.

What weighs more - a pallet of bricks or a shampoo bottle you drop on your foot in the shower?

Is leftist the new "insult" from right wing dumbasses. Used to be progressive, then liberal now they all say leftist. God I hate these people.
