At least this. I'm still confounded as to why Halak is always considered the starter. I guess cause we traded for him?MrCrowesGarden wrote:Brian Elliott, plz.

Elliott doesn't have the ceiling that Halak has. The only way the Blues win the Cup is if our goalie out hot-streaks the other team's goalie. Elliott will lose you less games than the average goalie, but he won't win you many. Halak has the potential to win you games when he is hot.

It looks like Backes & Oshie will be on a line with Zach Parise, Shattenkirk paired with Paul Martin for USA.
J-Bo & Petro paired together for Canada.
Steen lining with Gabriel Landeskog and Henrik Zetterberg for Sweden; Berglund on a line with Gustav Nyquist & Daniel Alfredsson for Sweden.
Tank lining up with Artem Ansimov & Nikolai Kulemin for Russia.

Bob McKenzie now saying Backes on a line with Parise and Ryan Callahan; Oshie on a line with Dustin Brown and Paul Stastny.

Re: 2013-2014 Blues (Hockey) Season
I saw a replay of all seven goals and to be honest, he may have only faced 25 shots and given up 5 but those five were (for the most part, maybe all but one) really, really, really great scoring plays for the US. I don't know what he is supposed to do when the US comes at him with a 3-2 break, the defenders follow the first two guys wide (one of which has the puck) and then the US just drops the puck back to the middle with a wide open one time slap shot from 15 feet away. A couple of the goals were just beautiful passes across the ice to a player sitting at the corner of the goal wide open that were tipped in. Backes got his goal as he was pretty much left alone to pound away at a rebound with nobody putting up any effort to clear him out.
With the team he had in front of him, he was basically as doomed as any goalie in an all star game.
Disclaimer: My analysis may be wildly inaccurate. I was trying to watch a short video of each goal at work while constantly looking over my shoulder so I didn't get caught slacking off.

I am pretty sure that I saw them on Yahoo Sports but I can't find them again right now.
This is a three minute or so recap that should show everything though. Time for me to leave work before I miss my ride so I didn't watch it all.

Those were some tough goals. The first one was a little weak. The rest of them would have been olympics-long hightlight reel if they had been stopped.

Kinda wish Slovakia was playing better so Halak wouldn't get lit up. Just lost 3-1 to Slovenia.
