That was a fantastic beat me down of the Avs. Lapierre's looked pretty good since coming back from his suspension.

At the outset, despite the Blues scoring the first goal of the game, I thought they might be in some trouble. Colorado's team speed was impressive. They seemed to be a step ahead of the Blues right out of the gate.MrCrowesGarden wrote:That was a fantastic beat me down of the Avs. Lapierre's looked pretty good since coming back from his suspension.
Eventually, our experience and discipline was the difference.
I hated seeing the Avs get the 2 late goals, but, other than that, they played a whale of a game.

Matt Duchene is a hell of a [expletive] player. Wow.

If the playoffs started today, the Canucks would miss the playoffs. They would also be tied for 2nd in the East.

Blues were "outplayed" most of the night in Boston, but played well enough to force an OT shootout - and got the W.
Bruins did a great job of taking Steener out of his game. Bruins played the body on him all night. He didn't record any shots, much less find room in the offensive zone to be creative with the puck. But, it came at the expense of letting others play to their strengths.
My number one star of the game has to be Halak, though. He stood on his head, at times. His biggest save may have been late in OT when he kicked out a shot on a one on one break away to push the game to a shootout.
I knew the Blues have had a lot of success in Boston the last few years, but didn't know last night's win pushed them to 6-0-0 in their last 6.
p.s. Cole went through a baptism by fire last night. Credit goes to the fantastic forechecking of the Bruins, but Ian has to learn to settle down and stay strong on the puck when clearing the zone or transitioning under pressure.
p.s.s. I had forgotten just how freaking enormous Zdeno Chara actually is.

To be fair, Steen would have had one point-blank shot from the slot (in OT) had he not whiffed. That was 100% his own fault on that one.

Ah, I remember that whiff......an attempt at a one-timer, if memory serves. I like him. He's a competitor. Wouldn't be surprised to see him roar against the Stars in St. Louie tomorrow.mikechamp wrote:To be fair, Steen would have had one point-blank shot from the slot (in OT) had he not whiffed.
