Waiting for Bernie to write an article explaining how he doesn't look like an idiot and he never gave the impression that Painter was accepting the Mizzou job...time to be honest with my self....Mizzou will never be national champion threat in Football or Basketball...so this is what it feels like to be a cubs fan.

He should go back to what he does best. Write bad opinion pieces centered around "Don Tony". Seriously, what a hack.Slider wrote:Waiting for Bernie to write an article explaining how he doesn't look like an idiot and he never gave the impression that Painter was accepting the Mizzou job...time to be honest with my self....Mizzou will never be national champion threat in Football or Basketball...so this is what it feels like to be a cubs fan.

It sounds like he was actually set to go to Mizzou like Bernie had reported, then had a change of heart as he was set to meet with his players.robbotis wrote:Yeah, I don't either, I blame Alden for not SEALING the deal!!!TheoSqua wrote:I don't blame Mizzou for trying.

I almost feel bad for whoever the next coach will be because there's no way he can be close to Painter.

Painter's still on vacation in Florida. He's never gone back to West Lafayette or Mizzou.MrCrowesGarden wrote:It sounds like he was actually set to go to Mizzou like Bernie had reported, then had a change of heart as he was set to meet with his players.robbotis wrote:Yeah, I don't either, I blame Alden for not SEALING the deal!!!TheoSqua wrote:I don't blame Mizzou for trying.

He's owning it.Bernie wrote:I am embarrassed and I apologize
I have been busy at Busch Stadium and this is the first chance I've had to write this post.
No excuses from me. I had what I believed to be very solid info from someone that has been 100 percent correct in the flow of information, at least up to now. And I went with it. Never said it was official, but I clearly gave everyone the impression that Matt Painter would be the next MU coach. And I fully believed that it would happen.
Well, wrong. So I have to wear it. Any criticism of me is justified. If I have lost credibility in your eyes, I deserve that. I have always taken pride in my reporting and in getting things right and I don't worry about being "first." But I trusted the information and proceeded with it. And I embarrassed myself and this news organization in the process.
I apologize to everyone, but especially those of you who put your trust in me. I am very sorry for letting you down. And I can assure you that I will work even harder and more diligently in the future to avoid this kind of failure again.
And thanks to those of you who already have conveyed your support on Twitter. I don't deserve it, but I can't tell you how much I appreciate it. You have no idea. I hope I can repair my credibility over time.
Thank you.
