There is a similar issue going on in MO right now. I'm not sure how similar because I don't know either piece of legislation well but the distributors are trying to maintain the stranglehold on distributing spirits known as the Three Tier System in Missouri.
Must be ready for spring, the taste for the dark scary beers has gone. I will always be on the hunt for good new beers, but have tapered back, thus the good ole Sierra Nevada Pale Ale is my affordable/accessible mainstay. Sierra Nevada's seasonal ale, Glissade is pretty good too -a smooth lager. And from Sam Adams - Nobel Pils has been quite tasty.
IIRC, A-B tried to buy Goose Island about 5 years ago, but failed to come to an agreement. Pretty sure they've had a distributor agreement with them though (similar to what they had with Bass and some others).
Honker's is an OK product. My gf loves the 312. Most of their beers are alright, but nothing special (or bad, for that matter).

Tried Goose Island Matilda a few days ago. It's better than I expected, but nothing too exciting. Maybe like a fruitier Fat Tire with some distinct aromatics.
