I remember one of my first hand me down baseball gloves had Davey Lopes on it.

(I remember gloves with names in them - I had a Boog Powell first baseman's mit)

I first knew him as a manager rather than a player. Had a rep as a great base stealing instructor. RIP.

I remember him as a base stealer on the heels of Brock, kept tabs on races for stolen base titles

RIP Davey Lopes. You were a fine player.

I had a Jim Lefebvre and later a Lou Brock fielding glove and an Orlando Cepeda 1st baseman mitt when he was a Cardinal.
