Daughter bought $60.00 of Amazon videos on her kindle

Post by wart57 »

Rose - my 3 yr old - Loves Peppa Pig. I now loath Peppa to the total of $59.67.

Luckily, I called Amazon, and they are going to give me a one time credit for the video's since they were ordered by a 3 yr old.

The question is, how the hell did she figure out the pin# needed to process the order?

She is 3.

I may have a future hacker on my hands.

Did you ask her?

Not familiar with the Kindle, but on the iPad, there is some kind of grace period where you don't have to enter a password to approve purchases after previously entering it, so maybe that could have happened. There's also a setting to just disable purchases entirely on the device. You may also want to double check the pin block on purchases is currently working. (You probably already did this.)

I went on line today and changed the pin and made sure it was set on all devices.

I nephew, who was 5 or 6 at the time, managed to order a couple hundred dollars worth of stuff through their one-click purchasing. The returns were accepted.

My daughter almost bought an ambulance on an online auction once. Fortunately I fought it before the auction ended

That's too bad. You were really close to owning a sweet ambulance.

Sure. But if had been a fire truck you would have kept it, right?

My daughter put 900$ worth of Disney movies into our Amazon cart a few years ago. Thank God I didn't have one click selected! Wheeeee!

Wouldn't you like to be the schmuck who came up with Peppa Pig (never heard of her), that train that the kids love, or something similar? Those people are living life stress free at this point.
