Deployment

Post by M1IRONMIKE »

I got a call today from my youngest. His unit was supposed to deploy to Kenya this summer for some kind of security mission but he now says that several nco's have told him that it is now on hold as they may be heading to Afghanistan. Having been in the service I know that you never know until it happens but they have been doing a lot of live fire training since october which makes me think there may be something to this news. I have not told his mother yet but she will not be happy if its true.

Any chance of a Mexican deployment? I'd drink with Trevor any day.

He is scheduled to end his tour of service in April of 2017.....during the same call where he told me of the possibility of being deployed he told me when he gets out he wants to go back to college and take another crack at baseball. IDK the eligibility rules for various colleges (JC, NAIA, div 1,2,or 3) for somebody like him at his age(he will be 22 when he gets out nearing 23). I looked online but got confused given all the variables. I'm pretty sure he would be eligible to play JC but the others ? He went to a Division 2 program and practiced with them in the fall before he dropped out after the 1st semester so I also don't know if that started a 5 years to play 4 clock or not. i seen where there was an exception for those in military service but again it was all confusing

This makes it look like his eligibility picks up right where it left off.
