Sour milk

Post by lukethedrifter »

The exp date was 11/4 and I didn't notice an off smell. That first mouthful of Honey Bunches of Oats got me though.

related - years ago we switched to this "organic" kind of milk

The shelf life is way longer than regular milk. I always thought it weird.
article on the why -they heat it UHT (UltraHighTemperature) http://www.scientificamerican.com/artic ... ts-longer/

And an article that makes me wonder how good this is.

Wife buys milk straight from the cow tit. Really tasty. No idea how much it costs.

Edit: not the same milk above

Related milk rant: I drink more milk than just about anyone I know. I love it. Always have. 2% for life. My last 4am bodega purchase, out of necessity, was for a half gallon of 1%.

Egad. What a loss. At least when I make a mistake buying whole, I can make chocolate milkshakes and it's delicious. I don't know what to do with this weird watered down piss water. How do you Skim advocates even live, anyway?!

I have tried some of the non-milk milks
And rank them like this-for flavor
Cocunut, almond, soy. Need to give hemp milk a try.

Now that I have tried them, i am back to the old 2%. I like some of the others for diff purposes-ie almond is great in oatmeal. Cocunut milk-mixed drinks, and cereal. But not enough for regular spot in the fridge

I can, and routinely, drink three or four glasses of milk with a meal. 2%. But for whatever reason, whole milk is just too much, and I can't drink it straight. Only use its accidental purchases for chocolate milk or protein shakes. 1% tastes flat. Skim is simply gross.

On the topic of sour milk: Because I am such a gross over-drinker of milk, I never deal with spoiled milk like normal people. But when I run into it at my parents' or any other home, it's an awful disappointment.

I like whole milk but rarely buy it. 2% is what I usually get, I'm fine with 1%, skim is awful. My parents keep it at their house, and when I was home last weekend, just about spit it out.
