My kid is a genius

I'm glad you're proud of your kid. I'm glad he's making connections that surprise you, given his age. I'm glad you're seeking educational opportunities that will support things he's already naturally good at. But I don't need to hear about it all the [expletive] time.

I'm also proud of my kids. They surprise me all the time with the connections and conclusions they make. My wife and I are reasonably intelligent, so I do kind of expect our kids to be above average. (If my wife would hit the weight room, we could move to Lake Wobegon.) But that doesn't mean I should brag about how smart I think my kids are.

I'm glad you're proud of your kid and think he's intelligent. We're all proud of our kids and think they're intelligent. Just STFU about it.

As one who has kids at both ends of spectrum- There are some perks to having your kid being deemed smart - in the Gladwellian sense they get a leg up in the academic world. Thus, that part of life is easier. For those not deemed smart, school sucks.

That all said, I'm not sure your genius child means they will grow up to be happy self-sufficient non-entitled adults -even with the positive atmosphere they enjoy at school.
