Rematch/OK State/BCS/etc
So, what do you all think? Good idea to have Bama/LSU II instead of LSU/OK State?
I think Bama is a better team than OSU (and probably LSU as well), but it's tough to justify it. OSU had a tougher schedule and more quality wins than Bama did. Or, put this way, OSU is more deserving and I'd rather see that, but Bama is a better team, imo. So...I don't know if it is right or not.
When Gundy said, 'People have to decide if they want to see another 9-6 game or a 39-36 game.' I think he was selling LSU short. The odds of them putting up 36/39 against LSU's D is a bit of an overstatement. Only twice all year did they give up more than 20 (Oregon and @ West Virginia) both in the first month of the season.
Having said all that, I think Bama wins this game. At that point, are they the clear national champion? Going 1-1 against LSU and finishing with a 12-1 record as opposed to LSU who will be 1-1 against Bama and finishing with a 13-1 record being SEC Champs with more quality wins (Oregon/WVU non conference) as opposed to Penn State for Bama?

Oh yeah, and if you don't like the BCS, this may have been just what the doctor ordered. If there is one person who has money and will get what he wants more often than not it's T Boone Pickens. I believe he said he'd 'go after' the BCS if OK State didn't get in.

Re: Rematch/OK State/BCS/etc
OK State's 1 loss came hours after being notified of the plane crash that killed the women's basketball team's head coach, her assistant, and a local senator and his wife. Word was the players were stunned and went into the game with no energy. I guess you can't count that into any metric to show who is #2, but I'd rather see OK State get a shot at LSU rather than Bama, who has already lost to LSU this season.

Here's T Boone's speech.
I know he doesn't control anything in the NCAA/BCS, but I'd be really concerned if he was after me for whatever reason.

If the timing of Alabama and OSU's losses were flipped, OSU would be in the title game, and I think that's stupid.

On one hand, LSU and Alabama are far and away the two best teams in the country. On the other hand, they already played each other and LSU came out on top. I think I'd rather see LSU vs. OKST.
The bigger outrage here is that there is a taxslayer.com bowl. WTF?

I know this proves nothing, but what do you think the line would be on an AL/OK State game and who would you pick to be the winner (not against the spread) of that game? Essentially that's how AL got in over OK State. More coaches and pollsters or whatever picked them as a better team than OSU. The computers picked OSU.
To answer my own question, I'd say that AL would be anywhere from a 6-10 point favorite over over OSU on a neutral field and if you put a gun to my head on who would win the game, I'd go with Bama.
It's not really fair, but it is the BCS way.... All of this is just another reason to get rid of the BCS.
I wish Pickens would pay whatever it took to set up a game b/w Bama and OSU. The winner went on to play LSU and the loser went on to play Stanford.

There are too many bowls. When a .500 team gets to play in a bowl game, there are too many bowls.
And the BCS needs to go away. Every other NCAA sport has a playoff. Why can't D-1 football?
Oh, yeah. Because of all the old fat white guys profiting off teenagers/young adults, so of whom can't even legally buy beer yet.
