I'm watching the game now but did they say anything about a mechanical problem? On the replay it looked like as he went into the turn one of his front wheels wasn't turning. That will cause just a tad bit of under steer.

He panicked that he'd run out of fuel and get passed, so instead of laying behind the lap traffic and passing on the straight, he tried to take him on the turn. Got too high, hit the marbles and hit the wall.

But I thought I saw the front wheels not turning before he hit the wall. Maybe I just wasn't seeing it right. If that was only driver error, man what a tough pill to swallow for that young man. His crew told him on the back stretch, "Just bring it home".
