Left Lane Obliviousness
We drove across I-70 yesterday to pay the hometown a visit. This rant is specifically about the Missouri stretch of I-70 (probably mostly because we drove through Colorado and Kansas overnight without much traffic). There were at least 8 cars that I had to pass on the right because they were in the left lane going 5 or more miles under the speed limit and completely oblivious to traffic. What makes it worst is that 6 of them had cell phones stuck to their ears. One guy was using his left hand to hold the phone and his right arm to make gestures. Each time he did this, the car would drift over, so I had to gun it to get past him. Another had the phone in one hand and digarette in the other.
C'mon people. At least get a bluetooth.

just inadvertantly run them off the road. They'll never know what happened since they were clueless &/or had their phone stuck up their arse!

The commercial area of the little town I live in is on a four lane , and I have seen 15 cars all in a row going ten miles under the limit, all in the left lane. If you ever get to the front of the line you'll find somebody poking along, and nine times out of ten they will have a cell stuck in their ear.

I sometimes think we need to get militant-like serious about driver's education and traffic law, especially in urban areas where drivers, bikers, and pedestrians really need to learn to share the byways better in order to ease congestion and road rage. Things like pedestrians using crosswalks and lights, bikers obeying traffic rules, cars improving lane usage and turning technique (get all the way over to the right if you are turning right, goshdarnit!),etc. would go a long way toward making urban travel less stressful.

and, would it kill people to use their turn signals when changing lanes and at least 50 or so yards before turning instead of just breaking hard at the last second?
eh, better yet, just use turn signals when it's obvious - like when in a Turn Only lane.

I can't believe how many people I see head into a turn only lane and then right before the actual turn, the signal pops on. Lack of comprehension of anything on earth outside of their tiny mind!!StL Dan wrote:and, would it kill people to use their turn signals when changing lanes and at least 50 or so yards before turning instead of just breaking hard at the last second?

Re: Left Lane Obliviousness
bump because I swear this problem is getting worse. Maybe I'm just getting less patient. I'm driving up 61 somewhere between Troy and Eolia and this asshat is just parked in the left lane. People passing him on the right, I hate doing that because you never know when he's going to realize he's a dumbass and go to the left lane. So I'm cruising up behind him and I can't get right because now Mr. semi driver is trying to pass on the right is on a hill and can't pull it. We finally get to where we are ahead of the semi more then enough for this ass clown to get over but not really enough I want to merge in front of the semi which will soon be going downhill and pass. At this point having dealt with this guy long enough I flash my lights a few times thinking maybe he'll go "oh hey I'm in the wrong [expletive] lane." No no [expletive] chance of that happening. Finally semi speeds up and goes by. Meanwhile I've got a guy right on my ass giving me the bird because of the dick in front of me. It's finally my time and I go for it. It was a glorious few seconds of acceleration followed by oh well of course here's my exit.
I hate people that can't drive for [expletive]. I wish the world was like GTAV and we could just shoot them on the spot. If this guy doesn't understand how the [expletive] interstate highway system works chances are he is just a drain on mankind.
So to asshat on 61 in the silver rusted out piece of [expletive] Ford Taurus. [expletive] you and your whole family. I hope your Christmas sucked and you have a terrible 2015.

Self driving cars will allow inferior beings to survive and persist in polluting the gene pool
