Make Social and Rants private?

Have you considered making Social and Rants only accessible to members? ITS PUBLIC!

Like visitors can see the amount of posts both forums have accumulated but they need to be members to actually view them.

Why on earth would we want to do that? If you're posting something in those forums, the members reading them are strangers too.

I was wondering if it was ever thought about. On my other forums I have frequented, the off-topic or social is always off-limits for some reason.

We've never discussed it. We like it public so potential new users can see how funny, smart, cool and generally awesome we are.
