Jimmy Kennedy Traded to Broncos

DENVER (June 8, 2007) -- The Denver Broncos added their second 300-pound-plus lineman in a week, acquiring defensive tackle Jimmy Kennedy from the St. Louis Rams in exchange for an undisclosed 2008 draft pick.

Kennedy, listed at 320 pounds, spent the past four seasons with the Rams, who picked him 12th overall in the 2003 draft.

On June 4, the Broncos signed 345-pound defensive tackle Sam Adams, a three-time Pro Bowl player who spent last season with Cincinnati.

In 53 career regular-season games, Kennedy has 149 tackles (76 solo), four sacks, five pass breakups, two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries.

He has 30 career starts, including all 16 games with the Rams last year, when he had a career-best 55 tackles (32 solo).

To make room for Kennedy on the roster, the Broncos waived first-year cornerback Eric Hill.

This is going to be just like when Denver kept signing all of Cleveland's first round d-line busts and turned them into good producers.

Fixed.

Glad they got something for him; he was useless. Non-factor his rookie year from an injury, and hardly helpful the next couple. The writing was on the wall in '06(he basically became a backup 3rd down guy), glad he's gone.

The sooner they finish the clean-up of the toxic waste left by Martz, the happier I'll be.

Wasn't our D-Line hurting for good players? I know Kennedy wasn't setting the world on fire, but it seems like a bad move to take away a big body from the inside when we were looking to ADD big bodies back around the draft. Who's left that can plug up the middle???

Carriker, Glover, Wroten and few others should form a nice rotation.
