Cardinals-Brewers game rained out

ST. LOUIS -- Friday night's game between the Cardinals and Brewers at Busch Stadium has been postponed due to steady rains in the St. Louis area, with no makeup date announced.
Additionally, Saturday's Cards-Brewers game at Busch has been rescheduled due to the weather conditions in the area. Originally slated for an early afternoon start, that game will now begin at 6:10 p.m. CT.

"We were watching on the computer, and they had nailed it almost to the minute," manager Tony La Russa said. "And once it got going, it's going 'til the early morning hours. And then that's why we moved the game back [Saturday]. There's a chance it will be around a good part of tomorrow. We should be able to play by tomorrow night. It will be a little uncomfortable."

The current forecast, according to Weather.com, calls for a first-pitch temperature of 42 degrees and a 30 percent chance of rain, with winds of about 15 mph.

St. Louis' scheduled starting pitcher, Anthony Reyes, will be bumped back until Monday after taking a full warmup before the game. Kip Wells and Braden Looper, the originally scheduled pitchers for Saturday and Sunday, will take their expected turns. Reyes will pitch Monday against Pittsburgh, with Adam Wainwright facing the Pirates on Tuesday and Randy Keisler pitching the first game of the Cards' upcoming road trip in San Francisco on Wednesday.

Milwaukee will move Jeff Suppan up a day, from Sunday to Saturday. Ben Sheets, the Brewers' scheduled starter for Friday, will pitch on Sunday in the series finale.

Only a few minutes before Friday's scheduled start time of 7:10 p.m. CT, heavy rain began to fall on the downtown ballpark. The tarp was brought out immediately, and pregame preparations ceased.

At 8:02 p.m. CT, the game was officially called. It is the second regular-season game postponed at new Busch since the park opened in 2006. Two games were postponed in St. Louis during the '06 postseason.

I feel sorry for fulldeck. She is suppose to fly this morning to STL, watch the game and fly back this evening. Her plans are all messed up.

I was trying to remember who that was. At least she had some notice, it would have stunk if they tried to start the game at noon and not ended up getting it going until 4 or so. Maybe she can switch flights.
