D-Rays Have Interest In Lidge

Post by Michael »

I'd love to have him but I doubt the Astros would deal him to us.

Per roto world...

The St. Petersburg Times suggests that the Devil Rays may be interested in Brad Lidge.

Beat writer Marc Topkin lists Rocco Baldelli, Jason Hammel, J.P. Howell, Andy Sonnanstine and Shawn Riggins as players who might interest the Astros. Former Houston general manager Gerry Hunsicker is in Tampa Bay's front office now and the two teams completed the relatively big trade involving Aubrey Huff last season.

That would be a steal for the 'Stros if they can pull in Baldelli for Lidge.

Ouch.... a trade to the A.L. East will not cure what ails Lidge......

I'm thinking NL West..... where he doesn't face the A.L. and the Cards much.

That's exactly what I was thinking. They desperately need a CF.

If Tampa is stupid enough to deal Roco, Houston would have Lidge's bags packed already.

The Rays have a surplus of OFers but I dont think Lidge would help them enough to deal ROCO.

Not sure if they have room for Cantu but he would be a good pickup

I cant see an affordable under contract young Baldelli going for only a recently removed closer. Especially one that has such a wide-known fall. I can see the Devil Rays doing a trade however, if the Astros include some other young pitching. Whether its Albers, Patton, Estrada, Paulino... basically any young arm that can may do something for that team. That would fill 2 holes for the D-rays. Get them a closer and a young arm.

Rocco Baldelli for Lidge?

Not sure if I believe that, because if that were the deal the Astros would have done that yesterday.

In any case, I sure hope that doesn't happen.

I can see trading Cantu, but TB would have to be crazy to trade Baldelli for Lidge.
