We're only paying him until he's what, 32? We're overpaying for his prime, but we only get his prime. Someone else can give him a Pujols contract after that.albertmvpujols wrote:A good amount of money, but that term is ridiculously good for the Blues. Much better deal than I would've expected from signing one of the top few free agents.

Steen-Backes-Oshie
Schwartz-Stastny-Tarasenko
THAT is a legit top 6. So excited!*
*Even though I realize we're all Charlie Brown getting ready to kick the football and the Blues are Lucy just waiting to pull it away.

I think we're done. I'm assuming the Blues expect Lehtera to make the team as the other offensive signing.letsgocards89 wrote:With Statsny signed and all the assets still available, is a Thornton trade still a possibility? How likely?JCShutout wrote:I didn't think about Thornton. I'd take him. I've also heard Eric Staal may be available.
I'm willing to go for broke. Trade our top pick next year, Rattie/Jaskin, and a roster player for one of the top guys available. I'd even give up Oshie if they won't take Berglund. Just don't trade Tarasenko, Schwartz, Petro or Shatty. Everyone else is available.
EDIT: That's in addition to signing Stastny. The window is NOW.

EDIT: Someone on LGB mentioned that Army alluded to Lehtera centering Schwartz and Tarasenko. Apparently Lehtera centered Senko overseas. That would theoretically make the forward lines...
Steen - Stastny - Backes
Schwartz - Lehtera - Tarasenko
Berglund - Sobotka - Oshie
Jaskin - Lapierre - Lindstrom/Reaves
I could also see...
Steen - Stastny - Backes
Schwartz - Lehtera - Tarasenko
Jaskin - Berglund - Oshie
Porter - Sobotka -Lindstrom/Reaves

I think Army mentioned Stastny would move to the top line, Lehtera would center the second line..
Steen - Stastny - Backes
Schwartz - Lehtera - Tarasenko
Bergland - Sobotka - Oshie
Lots of options for the 4th
I like breaking up the Steen-Backes-Oshie line, they just aren't a #1 line on a Cup winning team. It's time to face the fact that Oshie is a really good energy/3rd line kind of player, not a first line type guy.

Yeah, I edited when I read that Lehtera was seen as a 2nd line center. If Lehtera is solid... or better than Roy was for us, that's a really legit top 9.
