I think JL is right. No matter where they go and who they play (assuming it is a lower tier bowl) they need to just dominate.
The game I asana see is a TCU blowout over Wisconsin in the Rose. I would love that.

You mean like they did against Arkansas or like they got it against Navy last year?BigDCardlvr wrote:I think JL is right. No matter where they go and who they play (assuming it is a lower tier bowl) they need to just dominate.

It's the Big 12's fault. In the current system bowls align w/ conferences. Is it good? No, but it is that way.JL21 wrote:Obviously we're all disappointed as fans to lose to Nebraska but there is absolutely zero shame in losing to a top 20 team, on the road, in one of the toughest places to play in the country. The only loss that bothers me is TTU and it's far, far outweighed by 10 wins, a #12 ranking, a share of the Big XII North title, and a win over OU.
As for the bowl thing, what're you gonna do? They did their part- they won 10 games in the Big XII, and finished the regular season 12th in the country. If they don't make it to a BCS bowl or the Cotton Bowl, it's not on the team. It's on the bowls who pass them over, and possibly the fact that the fans haven't traveled well to bowl games in the recent past.* The longer Pinkel can maintain success- double digit wins, 8 win rebuilding seasons, top 25 finishes, sell-outs at Faurot- the more likely bowls are to stop passing Mizzou over.
*kind of a chicken and egg thing- what came first, the lack of interest or the annoying bowls passing Mizzou up in favor of worse teams like Iowa State and aTm?
A 7-5 Big Ten team will be playing in a New Years Day bowl. Enough said.

Anything less than perfection in college football is boring. Even if you make a BCS bowl, what does it mean? Jack [expletive]. How many years until they fix this? It has to happen eventually.

Re: Mizzou football 2010
As promised, here is a quick update on where the Mizzou bowl prospects are per what the information I gathered this morning.
Nebraska and OU with play this weekend in Dallas for the conference championship and for the BCS slot. The winner will go to the Fiesta Bowl. The next four Big 12 bowl picks go in this order: Cotton, Alamo, Insight and Holiday. Mizzou is expected to go to one of these bowls.
Mizzou is in the mix for the Cotton Bowl despite the various media projections. Based upon our strong performance (both team and fan support) in 2008 and our current record/ranking, we are in the running with Oklahoma State, OU, Nebraska and A&M. A couple of things to consider with the Cotton Bowl:
· OSU was in the Cotton Bowl last year.
· The loser of the Big 12 Championship game may not be the best choice since the team/fans will be in Dallas this weekend.
· A&M hasn’t lost since we beat them last month in College Station and have a large fan base in Texas.
· Likely opponent would be LSU or Arkansas.
Mizzou has been projected for either the Insight (Phoenix) or Holiday (San Diego). Both are good bowls and great destinations.
Per our discussion at September’s board meeting, MAA is soliciting alumni sentiment on these options, mostly through our social media channels. The overwhelming response thus far is for the Cotton Bowl in Dallas. Ease of travel, first-class facility (new Cowboy Stadium) and quality opponent are a few factors that seem to be driving that sentiment. My opinion, this would be a GREAT opportunity for our fans, team and university.
Additionally, we are planning travels packages/events for the possible sites. We are working hard to be price-conscious and encourage Mizzou fans to travel where ever we may land.
I will keep you updated as things develop. Bowl announcements will be made on Sunday evening once the final BCS standings are final. If you should have any questions, let me know. Feel free to weigh-in and share information, thanks for your support.

The Cotton Bowl is awesome. I wish Mizzou would go there. Great game, tradition, big stage, etc.Jocephus wrote:As promised, here is a quick update on where the Mizzou bowl prospects are per what the information I gathered this morning.

The Cotton will take A & M though.

Mizzou's best bet for the Cotton Bowl is the SEC Championship game. If South Carolina pulls off the upset, it could bump Arkansas to the Cotton Bowl, which would eliminate aTm as an option, leaving Mizzou pretty much the best choice.

They aren't really a better draw than Mizzou, they're coming off a loss, and most importantly, they played in the Cotton Bowl just last year.robbotis wrote:Oklahoma State?Transmogrified Tiger wrote:Mizzou's best bet for the Cotton Bowl is the SEC Championship game.
