Oklahoma- BCS
Nebraska- Cotton
OSU- Holliday
Texas A&M- Alamo
Mizzou- Insight
Missouri, w/ a possible 10-2 record, and a top 10 most difficult schedule, could end up playing a 7-5 Michigan team. The Big Ten owns too many good bowl spots. And Missouri gets no respect come bowl time.
That's a main reason that I hate the BigX.
I hope Mizzou gets more respect. I completely agree that the BigX gets too many games and that's my #1 gripe about the conference.
So the Cotton bowl is going to take a 3 loss Nebraska team to play in the same stadium they lost in 4 weeks earlier? I know Nebraska fans travel well, but given their hype this season they probably have a substantial number of Big 12 title game tickets bought, and I don't see them bringing nearly the same crowd to go back to the same place for the end of their "disappointing" season. Obviously it could happen, but I don't think that's close to a guarantee.
Also, Dave Matter brought up this morning that Arkansas is a potential Cotton Bowl team. That news does lessen the impact of aTm playing there earlier this year, but on the other hand they won't create an October rematch on the same field.
Yeah, it's pretty likely that Arkansas makes the Cotton Bowl, almost regardless of what happens this weekend.
From the Big XII OU/OSU/NB/Mizzou/TAM would be possibilities. No way would they replay the Southwest Classic in the same stadium so tAM is out. It's guaranteed that one of OSU/OU/NB ends up with 3 losses and one ends up in the BCS.
If OSU wins out, it's between OU/NB/Mizzou with mizzou likely going.
If OU wins out, it's between OSU/NB/Mizzou with OSU and Mizzou only having two losses and OSU likely going.
If Nebraska beats OU in the title game, OSU would likely go.
If Nebraska beats OSU in the title game, I don't know what would happen...Mizzou would likely be out though.
I could ge way off in those scenarios, but I think Mizzouhas a shot either way if NB loses the Big XII championship

If OU doesn't win the South, they're going to get the Cotton Bowl, there's no way any bowl is passing on them in favor of Mizzou, OSU, or aTm.
Looking like Mizzou won't make a BCS bowl, but still.....a 10-2 record this year is much better than most had anticipated. I'm pretty happy with this team.

Here we come Insight Bowl!
Nothing like the #12 team in the nation w/ the 7th toughest schedule going to a horrible Dec. 29th bowl to play a 7-5 6th place Big 10 team!

Well, that's if you're an optimist. The Insight Bowl could pretty easily take Oklahoma State and leave Mizzou to the Holiday Bowl against 6-6 Washington, assuming Washington wins this week. If they don't, then things could get real interesting. Like, Boise State to the Holiday Bowl interesting.
10-2 is a really really good Mizzou season. Still, it's frustrating that the two losses were so horrendous. Additionally, it sucks that MU will end up with a boring bowl game against a boring opponent more than likely.
Props to Gary Pinkel on running a solid program that wins consistently without the stench of malfeasance that accompanies much of NCAA football.
Obviously we're all disappointed as fans to lose to Nebraska but there is absolutely zero shame in losing to a top 20 team, on the road, in one of the toughest places to play in the country. The only loss that bothers me is TTU and it's far, far outweighed by 10 wins, a #12 ranking, a share of the Big XII North title, and a win over OU.
As for the bowl thing, what're you gonna do? They did their part- they won 10 games in the Big XII, and finished the regular season 12th in the country. If they don't make it to a BCS bowl or the Cotton Bowl, it's not on the team. It's on the bowls who pass them over, and possibly the fact that the fans haven't traveled well to bowl games in the recent past.* The longer Pinkel can maintain success- double digit wins, 8 win rebuilding seasons, top 25 finishes, sell-outs at Faurot- the more likely bowls are to stop passing Mizzou over.
*kind of a chicken and egg thing- what came first, the lack of interest or the annoying bowls passing Mizzou up in favor of worse teams like Iowa State and aTm?
It's not the losses I found frustrating, it was the way the team played. Sure it happens but even a reasonable fan can get frustrated at such poor play. As for the bowl thing, what are you gonna do? Hopefully they end up with an interesting opponent anyway.
