Ah, the Robert Bresson approach.MrSaigon wrote:Christensen was pretty good in Shattered Glass. I've always had this picture of Lucas all pissed off yelling cut and shouting at his actors to not demonstrate any emotion whatsoever, and making them eat cardboard in front of the crew as a demonstration lesson for those prequels.

Re: Star Wars Thread
Star Wars was the first movie I ever sat all the way through. I was 7 about to turn 8 when I saw it, and had never been able to sit long enough to watch an entire movie. For the longest time, it was my favorite movie.
I watched the prequels with the same enjoyment as i watched the original, they were not nearly as good, but I still really enjoyed them.
My girls are in to the Star Wars Rebels cartoon on Disney XD, so i really need to sit them down to watch A new Hope, Empire, and Jedi before I show them the other ones. I want them to get the same feeling I got when seeing Vader tell Luke.
As much as I loved Star Wars, I was never obsessed with it, or anything like that. It was my gateway drug in to other sci-fi however. Star Trek, Battle Star Galactica, and then Doctor Who took over for Star wars. That being said, I am stoked about the new films, and as with the prequels, I will enjoy them on their own merit, and not over think the movies.
Seeing the Falcon flying like that was awesome.
Also, that is a [expletive] light-claymore, not a light-saber.

My little girl loves the original films. I haven't been able to bring myself to show her the prequels.Jocephus wrote:this is a question i wonder with people with younger kids. are you starting them with 4-6, or 1-3? i think if you grew up with the originals you'd start with them. plus, if you start with 1-3, you lose the impact of darth/luke, etc. if i had kids i'd show them 4-6 then never mention anything again.

If you start your kid on IV, you will lose. The first half of IV is sloooooow nowadays. All that time on tattooine, the jawas.
You need to see the beginning 20 minutes, Mos Eisely. The 2nd half (at the death star) is obviously legit, but in total IV can drag.
