He's not anyone of note, a backup. I just think it's interesting that the NCAA is already following the NFL's lead and suspending someone for a hit.

Wow. I can't tell if I feel bad for them or not. It's a lot easier to hate on KU when they're mildly successful.Transmogrified Tiger wrote:Because it needed to be done:
I got a huge kick out of the Gameday sign that said "Big XII 114, KU 14" or whatever it was.

Bo Pelini looks like he should be the head coach of the evil football players in "Revenge of the Nerds". And also looks like the dumbest guy to ever walk the face of the earth. And I say all this fully respecting his abilities as a coach.

I just read today how 30 people got arrested for trespassing for storming the field after the OU win. 30 out of about 20,000 that were on the field. That's worse than getting a ticket for pulling down a tree branch.

I would probably not plead guilty to that and take it to court. No judge, well...you'd think no judge, would actually punish you for that. It's like charging someone with stealing for taking a piece of the Berlin Wall after it came down.cardsfansince82 wrote:I just read today how 30 people got arrested for trespassing for storming the field after the OU win. 30 out of about 20,000 that were on the field. They have a lot of people arguing on their behalf right now. The university doesn't want to drop the charges altogether because of setting a precedent for future on field stuff, but they don't seem to want to hammer them either. It will probably be a minimal amount of community service or a small fine and nothing on their criminal records.AWvsCBsteeeerike3 wrote:I would probably not plead guilty to that and take it to court. That's just it, Carter is a headhunter. If you watch his play all throughout the game he consistently is hitting high and trying to tackle by ripping a guys head off.Transmogrified Tiger wrote:I don't think that was nearly the killshot that this was. Re: Mizzou football 2010
Imo, that's absolutely ridiculous. Every fanbase is going to behave that way. If they didn't think it was going to happen, they wouldn't have bought the breakaway goal posts but by doing so probably saved hundreds of thousands on their insurance policy. They know it's going to happen, they expect it to happen and know it's going to happen in the future. I could understand if this was in Glendale or Dallas or something you can't have a bunch of hooligans representing you by rushing the field....but it's Mizzou and it was their homecoming and Mizzou is the governing body that is prosecuting. They obviously knew the likelihood was 100%. I don't get the point of minimally punishing someone. If you really want to prevent it, then throw the book at them. Doing this is not a deterrent and actually if they get 20-40 community service hours and no criminal record, I'd do it in a heartbeat. How awesome of a story would that be for later in life.cardsfansince82 wrote:They have a lot of people arguing on their behalf right now. yeah - that was pretty flagrant, that OU guy with the spearing. Didn't he knock himself out of the game for while by doing that.

To clarify, I don't agree with it either. That was just a potential punishment the article mentioned. But there's a lot of other stuff going on. They have a state senator arguing on their behalf, a quote from the university president kind of encouraging what happened, plus they used photos of the people on the field on the school website and in newspapers . If I was someone who got arrested I would be incredulous no matter how small the punishment.AWvsCBsteeeerike3 wrote: Imo, that's absolutely ridiculous. Every fanbase is going to behave that way.
