Hockey is a dangerous sport and if Backes isn't bent over and turning into the hit, it's just a huge shoulder-to-shoulder hit. Seabrook [expletive] up, and hit a guy without the puck, square in the [expletive] head. I would have suspended him for much longer, but the Department of Player Safety has a (admittedly spotty) track record for suspension lengths for first-time offenders.lukethedrifter wrote:Hockey is a stupid sport if it's reasonable that a guy trying to disable a guy gets 3 games.

First of all, I want the Blues to win the series even more now if that is even possible. What I can't decide is whether I would prefer they wait until next season and just beat the mess out of Kieth and Seabrook in the first matchup or dress someone tonight that you don't plan on using the rest of the series and just have him go right after Kieth from the start with the intention of doing something bad enough to him to get kicked out.
I honestly think I'm more ticked off about the 'wakey, wakey' comment and the general taunting of Backes after he got laid out than I am about the hit. At least the hit was real time, game speed. Sometimes stuff happens that needs to be punished by might not have been intentional. I don't know Seabrook to be a dirty player. Kieth on the other hand... there is no excuse for that (or punishment apparently).

The dumbest thing about hockey suspensions is that the injury dictates the duration, not the intent. If Backes skated off without an issue, somehow that changes the fact that Seabrook tried to take his head off?

So dumb. They were bad enough before they won their second cup and the bandwagon was still small. Add in a couple million replacement-level Chicago sports fans and it is now among the dumbest fanbase in all of sports.slide_into_first wrote:Blackhawks fans are dumb.

I hear you, tlombard. Every ounce of me wants to see the Blues players extract physical revenge on Keith for what he said and for Seabrook's actions. HOWEVER, I'd rather see our boys take the high road and continue to watch Chicago self destruct with undisciplined play.tlombard wrote:First of all, I want the Blues to win the series even more now if that is even possible. So, I'm with you.....let's pay that action back next season. The opportunities will be there.
In the mean time, let's stay disciplined. Continue to ride the wave of playing strong, 4 line hockey and kick some Blackhawks ass right out of the playoffs.

"Wakey wakey, Backes, wakey wakey" is my new alarm.
Lines should be interesting tonight: Morrow-Bergie-Reaves on the 3rd with Ott moving up to the 1st line. Ott's not Backes by any stretch of the imagination, but he plays a similar game and can create havoc for Steen and Oshie to work within.

I agree, in fact the ref didn't even call a penalty until after it was clear that Backes was hurtMrCrowesGarden wrote:The dumbest thing about hockey suspensions is that the injury dictates the duration, not the intent.
