It sounds like Paajarvi may be sitting in the pressbox for the first game. JR says Hitch liked the top 9 that practiced Wednesday, and that may be how it shapes out opening night.

Blues waive Chris Porter, which is a bit of a surprise to me--I thought it would be Cracknell. But there's some quotes about Porter being frustrated about the team going out to sign other players-- maybe he took it for granted and thought he had a job sewn up. Regardless, congrats to Cracknell for earning his way onto the team.

The Blues sold the Peoria franchise to Vancouver, who's moving the team...somewhere. I think that's how it went down.

The Canucks totally own the Utica Comets of the AHL now. No where close to Vancouver but I understand a much more successful hockey city.

Peoria still has a team called the Rivermen in the SPHL (Southern Pro). There's a team that plays at the US Cellular Coliseum in Bloomington, IL called the Thunder while almost all the other teams lie from Louisiana to Florida.
