I've been to the Black Canyon. Nice little park.

I really wanted to go to Katmai when I spent most of the summer in Alaska a few years ago, but never pulled the trigger. You can only get there by plane, and most of the flights are pretty expensive out of Homer.

Gates of the Arctic is absolute bucket list for me.

Been to Black Canyon, Organ Pipe and North Cascades.

North Cascades is as pretty as anywhere as long as it's not cloudy. Kind of a gamble if you don't live in the area.
Organ Pipe is not really all that different from pretty much anywhere in rural AZ. I'd rather go to Cochise Stronghold, Patagonia, Coronado National Forest if I'm tromping around S AZ. Added bonus of not being as dangerous AND the minute possibility of seeing a Jaguar.

I've been to Isle Royale. The wolves are about to die out due to disease, in-breeding, and general bad luck (young females fell into an old copper mine and died). Much debate about letting nature take its course, or re-introducing new wolves to the mix.

It wasn't in the 90s when I visited with my family. I remember there was a nice big hole in the chain link fence at the border. We all stepped through for photos being "illegal aliens." There's a highway right on the other side, and while we were busy posing and so on, a group of guys in a pickup truck drove by, waved at us, parked a bit down the way, and hopped over. We all thought it was pretty funny and went on with our day.
