I'm very excited but I can't shake the feeling we're in for a huge letdown.

That's the angst you should feel as a MU fan.longhornbaseball wrote:I'm very excited but I can't shake the feeling we're in for a huge letdown.

My expectation level for Mizzou is such that it can't be a letdown unless they get blown out of the water. If it's another 65-21 ass-whoopin', that'll be a huge letdown.longhornbaseball wrote:I'm very excited but I can't shake the feeling we're in for a huge letdown.

I just want Mizzou to beat this team for once... I'm with Longhorn, I'm pumped, but afraid I'll be turning it off by half time...JL21 wrote:My expectation level for Mizzou is such that it can't be a letdown unless they get blown out of the water. I don't want you guys to think I'm not excited for this game because I am. How nice would it be to win a really big one against OU in front of the country?

Fair to call this game the biggest home game in Mizzou football history?

Re: Mizzou football 2010
This week has been way too long. Back on Monday or Tuesday I was being rational, but all this the talk this week has gotten me into a frenzy. I'm as big a skeptic as anyone of the defense, but they've been pretty impressive. They're playing with a lot more speed and physicality, as opposed to the prevent defense we've had for several years. They actually have some attitude now and cut down on all the big plays. I don't think they can shut down OU, but they could hold them in check. Seven sacks last week without Aldon Smith. We'll find out just how good they are the next two weeks.
The biggest match up of the game is Mizzou's O-line vs. OU's D-line. The reason Mizzou usually loses these games is because they can shut down our running game and get pressure just with the front four, leaving a lot more people in pass coverage. I thought coming in to the season our O-line would be one of the biggest strengths. They've been very good at times and kind of sketchy others. If they give Gabbert time to throw and we can run the ball at least a little bit then Mizzou could easily win.
It would be awesome to see them finally beat OU, but losing this game isn't the end of the world. Give them a good game and then beat Nebraska and K-State and you're in good shape. Checking the lines again, they've held steady at OU -3 all week. You can even get OU -3 at +100 which is completely unheard of. As excited as I am, I'd still take OU for sure at that price.
