What possibly could Obama have dealt with growing up to compare to what McCain suffered through during his 5 1/2 years as a Prisoner of War?Socnorb11 wrote:fulldeck wrote:You really cannot compare these two things to each other.Socnorb11 wrote:Obama growing up as a black man in America probably had a great deal to do with shaping him. We must stop Czar Putin!I was just implying that Russia has been in recent history, and still is a legitimate threat.
Sure, but the Russian Empire? I can see them wanting to go back to being a communist or fascist country, but a two-week skirmish against Georgia isn't evidence enough of them re-starting the Empire.

Guys, honestly, let's face it.
60 days til election time.
The debates are still to come.
We haven't seen a mass of state polling in weeks.
This is just starting.

So it's about the suffering he endured? I don't understand.fulldeck wrote:What possibly could Obama have dealt with growing up to compare to what McCain suffered through during his 5 1/2 years as a Prisoner of War?Socnorb11 wrote:Why can't you?fulldeck wrote:You really cannot compare these two things to each other.Socnorb11 wrote:Obama growing up as a black man in America probably had a great deal to do with shaping him. I'm not saying that he suffered as much, or in the same way. I'm just saying that growing up as a black man in a mostly white America surely shaped who he is.

I hate to say he's changed a little for the worse in other ways. I'd like to think if he gets elected, we see that guy again.Michael wrote:ghostrunner wrote:I think McCain of 2000 would have done better. His age is showing more these days.
I <3 2000 McCain. did you know I worked on his campaign? That feels like ages ago.

I think the Republican Convention energized both parties. That's a good thing.
What I don't get is how McCain can try to distance himself from the mess that Bush made, when he's voted with Bush 90% of the time.

That's really weird. I was talking with a friend the other day about thinking earlier in the year that I would be fine with McCain or Obama and just how disenchanted with McCain I have become.Michael wrote:ghostrunner wrote:I think McCain of 2000 would have done better.
