This is just another episode that supports that conclusion.
UFC isn't boxing. But just because you don't enjoy the sport doesn't mean someone else doesn't. I happen to quite enjoy modern day boxing. I think there's a lot more finesse in it (look at Mayweather) and I like watching them work jabs and find some holes for a few hooks. Or work the body, or work the ring.

I enjoyed watching the De La Hoya Mayweather fight, and would like to order more fights if I can get 6-10 people to throw down with me. I'd also like to learn a little bit about UFC too.
My bad. Shows you how out of the loop I am.

UFC is pretty cool.

I just assumed you were discussing boxing.

I've heard that most of the PRIDE fighters are way ahead of the UFC fighters. I'm not sure how true that is though.

With the massive hype going in, I just assumed Liddell was going to win easily.

Weak punch...I think yes. It was a defensive punch. Liddell started to get inside and the punch was a weak defensive punch to back Chuck off.

9 times out of 10 that punch doesn't land. This one did, and landed in the perfect spot.
It's not like Rampage just threw that punch wildly out of nowhere and it luckily clipped Chuck on the button. He defended Chuck's punch, and then threw a perfectly timed and executed counter which put Chuck's lights out.

Liddell has made a career out of the exact same tactic. This time he went on the offensive (not his normal strategy) and paid for it.

I don't really know because I don't know that much about PRIDE, but wasn't Cro Cop a pride guy?

Talk about a disappointing performance. Silva destroyed him.

You're right. It wasn't a wild punch out of nowhere. But it was still a defensive punch. Chuck should have easily defended it. But you can't tell me that was a power/knockout type punch. It was weak.

UFC bought Pride for $70 million a few months ago.
Pride is simply bigger in other countries. I don't think the fighters are any better, or worse than UFC. Think of it like Baseball, w/ the National League and American League. The big boys get together for these UFC pay per views.

Here's to weak, defensive punches. It looks like a pretty solid counter punch to me, with his target squared up and dropping like a sack of potatoes. Poor defense on Liddell's part.

Yes. It was very poor defense on Liddell's part. Pretty much non existent defense. He lands the body punch (barely) and almost in slow motion [expletive] the right hand to continue. Rampage pulls his head quick and swings to back Chuck off. Only Chuck just moves in slow motion. I've seen weaker punches knock guys out. But this was by no means a pounding.

I never said it was a pounding. The pounding took place in their first fight, apparently before Liddell had a weak chin. The whole sequence is pure awkwardness on Liddell's part. Please point out to me where Liddell "get's inside" on him. With his reach advantage and outside striking ability, that's the last place he'd wanna be. Jackson wasn't backing him off. Chuck backed off just fine on his own and failed to defend the inevitable conuter punch. These guys spend the majority of their waking hours trying to refine the art of rendering other human beings unconcious as quickly as possible. Jackson did just that.
