Yeah mike - he might have to burn a red shirt year with the time he was at UIS, but otherwise the age doesn't matter. If academically he finished his spring semester then I know he would have burnt a year of eligibility, if he only went in the fall then I'm not 100% sure - although I think even then it would count as a year of eligibility. Age doesn't matter - there was a D3 Quarterback down at Blackburn like 10 years ago - guy was upper 30's. He could go anywhere essentially and play, from CC to D1. If it were me I would recommend going to a CC, that's going to be his best shot at getting a shot.

The best part of all of that is going back to school. Vet with college is a good combo. Right now we are really pushing to increase our diversity in my place of employment, I'm hiring a person right now in fact, and if I could find a qualified veteran I would get gold stars.

thats what i told him.....Juco is the best option.....not sure what he will do

He is scheduled to end his tour of service in April of 2017.....during the same call where he told me of the possibility of being deployed he told me when he gets out he wants to go back to college and take another crack at baseball. IDK the eligibility rules for various colleges (JC, NAIA, div 1,2,or 3) for somebody like him at his age(he will be 22 when he gets out nearing 23). I looked online but got confused given all the variables. I'm pretty sure he would be eligible to play JC but the others ? He went to a Division 2 program and practiced with them in the fall before he dropped out after the 1st semester so I also don't know if that started a 5 years to play 4 clock or not. i seen where there was an exception for those in military service but again it was all confusing

I know someone who served in the Navy, went to Juco and then went D3.
