Why did I ever post that?
When I read Cards82 post I thought to myself that you will never live that one down.
I guess I could be known for something worse. At least it's not embarrassing enough to have it sig'd or a custom rank.
Back to the OP, I feel like a jerk now, and it explains why when I gave a ten for the drink he gave me back five singles. He also hesitated. Damn... Oh well. I'll never be going back anyway.
$1 per drink unless they're really cheap, or you are ordering multiple drinks at a time. I usually start a tab to get away from that and tip 30% or so at the end. If it's busy it's probably worth it to overtip a bit on the first couple rounds so you don't get ignored.
do people still carry cash, and pay per drink at bars?
i only open tabs, then pay 25% (unless the bartender was slow as [expletive], but would still leave 18-20%) of the total tab. carrying cash and paying per drink is a pain in the ass.
i always carry an old cancelled credit card (it's not like they look at the experation date) to open the tab (just in case i get drunk and leave it, they run it without me knowing and had a bunch of [expletive] that wasn't mine on it, etc) and when it's time to pay up i take the old card back, and give them a valid one to pay.

What post was this? Where is it? I want to see it.

this is why bars have started pre-authorizing cards and handing them back to you. It's annoying as [expletive], because they basically take $20-80 out and you get the difference back in several days.
But you pretty much have to unless you want to get burned by dummy cards.
