btw, when I was in Boston, I went to the Harpoon Brewery for a tour. After a few beers, a brewer there challenged me to a drinking competition where we'd have 5 individual beers we had to chug in a row. We went head to head, and I won by a full beer and was timed at 23 seconds total. I won a t-shirt.

What seems like a simple announcement by the folks over Sam Adams has sent my mind racing. Later this month they will be releasing Infinium, a champagne-like beer intended to replace your bubbly this New Years Eve.

...

First off, a bit about the brew. Infinium is the first of three beers Sam Adams will brew in collaboration with the Weihenstephan Brewery in Germany. All of the brews will conform to the Reinheitsgebot (guzentight!), the German Beer Purity Law.

Infinium is what you’d expect from a beer dressed up in a French tux – it comes in a corked 750ml bottle, it’s light gold in color, has a flavor described as “crisp and dry” (it’s brewed with champagne yeast) and will ring in with an ABV of around 10%. Infinium will retail for $19.99 a bottle, placing it in the upper levels of premium craft beer.

I highly recommend that blog, by the way.
That sounds tasty.

Yeah, I'm really intrigued by that. I'm going to ask my dad about it over the weekend. He's a nerd about yeast and the brewing process.

I'm kind of surprised that you had a chugging contest on a microbrew tour. I am definitely having a hard time believing that you drank 5 pints in 23 seconds. Taster samples maybe?

I know a classy dame who can down a pint of beer like that dude on the Man Show - opens her throat and down it goes. Takes maybe a second or something. She says she can't do more than two right in a row, as it's just as easy to hiccup, burp a bit, or anything, and it comes right back up. Chick is not some big woman either - she's a cute, athletic softball-player-looking kinda deal. It's extremely imposing to see her do it, and watch dudes flock to her.

If you can down 5 - and, I assume, these are tasty ales and whatnot, I am impressed.
