I'm OK with Buschemi, although I get what drifter is saying. My problem is that I don't like the show nearly as much as I feel like I'm supposed to. It's just not that intriguing.

The NY Times review said as much, that it's not until mid-season that the show really gets going.

That 2nd to last scene of Sunday's episode was tough.
Jimmy worked the whole episode getting the cash and...

Last season really pushed it on the coincidences and deus ex machina kind of stuff, though aside from that I think it was the best season since the first one. My understanding is that they know Dexter was at Trinity's house last season. If that's true, I think it's too much to ask of the viewer. Hopefully they wrap up this whole thing quickly and move on. It won't be realistic, but the suspense over him getting caught is the equivalent to infidelity on Mad Men. It's a case of the writers overextending their credit.
It's been my biggest issue with the show from day one- the implausibility of a police department not catching him, especially with how sloppy he was last season. If they really want to do right by the show, IMO, they can string this along for two more seasons and then call it a day/end the series. That's the corner they've painted themselves into. Let Quinn have the lightbulbs go off this season, then gradually or whatever catch him next, end of series.

I liked the first episode a lot.
I thought this season was the last one?

Dexter was sloppier last season, but they also weren't looking for him as much as in Seasons 2 and 3.
I had heard this is the final season too, but I couldn't find anything on the net to verify it.

It wasn't really my problem since day 1, I thought not catching him Season 1 was perfectly reasonable (they weren't really trying to except the boy in the junkyard). There were a few groaners in there, season 2 with Lilah/Doakes, the cameras, etc - acceptable once in a season dedicated to finding him, Smits in 3 was a little unlikely. He did get really sloppy in 4, but they were more worried about Trinity and it hasn't just been fixed yet.
I haven't heard it's the last season.
Anyway, there's tons of unsolved murders, including serial killers, so I don't get how it's unplausible he hasn't been caught.
Anyway klling the dude w/ the anchor in public was pretty un Dexter-like.
For a while there, I thought flashbacks w/ Rita were going to take the place of talks w/ Harry. But the end put that to rest.

How many of those unsolved murders are committed by co-workers of people whose job it is to solve those crimes? And whose victims are people who have been arrested by those same co-workers? Dexter himself pointed it out in the first season, how odd it was that in a room full of homicide detectives, Doakes was the only one to suspect anything at all. Let alone all the close calls, like the kid in the junkyard and the FBI's humongous man-hunt.

He also points out that Miami has a 20% solve rate for murders, which is pretty good odds for someone who is a cop, was trained not to get caught by a cop, and whose victims were only discovered after they had been at the bottom of the ocean for months, if they were discovered at all.

Skip Schumaker is a [expletive] 2nd basemen but nobody in the Cards management realizes it, except Luhnow. And he just got Doakes'd.
