Don't fall for the siren song of the [expletive] sandwich. You could make a better sandwich at home.Freed Roger wrote:Driving past Mom's on the way to Legrands I always think "should I give them another shot?" But then the Legend beckons.

Not to worry, I get the shakes just whenever I consider trying one of Legrands other sandwiches. It's pain/pleasure looking through that list and the meat selection when there's a line in front of you.JL21 wrote:Don't fall for the siren song of the [expletive] sandwich. Every time I go there, I tell myself "I'm going to try a new sandwich today". And then I get up to the front of the line and order a Legend or an Amoré. "Maybe next time", I think to myself.Freed Roger wrote:Not to worry, I get the shakes just whenever I consider trying one of Legrands other sandwiches. My wife and I have decided that every time we go to Legrands, we have to get a different type of sandwich until we try them all...I've had 6 different sandwiches over the last few months. All are really good, but they can't compare to the Legend.JL21 wrote:Every time I go there, I tell myself "I'm going to try a new sandwich today". Yeah - when Mrs. Freed goes we split a Legend and one other. Curious Scooter, That's Amore, Hitman are all good. Then there's Fredbird, and the Hitman.... I better cool off for a while.

Where would you rank it among STL delis?Popeye_Card wrote:Who here has tried 9th Street Deli in Soulard? Rarely gets love other than cheesesteak awards, but they have awesome sammiches.

I've never tried it. Is that the new deli in Soulard kind of by McGurk's that supposedly has great gyros?Popeye_Card wrote:Who here has tried 9th Street Deli in Soulard? Rarely gets love other than cheesesteak awards, but they have awesome sammiches.

If forced to rank, it would be 1.) Blues City Deli, 2.) LeGrands, 3.) 9th Street. But my voting takes value into account--9th Street is probably better tasting than LeGrands, but you pay more so it is expected.
If I were assigning letter grades, it would be A+, A, A, respectively. Mom's gets a C.

That's some impressive in-depth sandwich analysis.Popeye_Card wrote:If forced to rank, it would be 1.) Blues City Deli, 2.) LeGrands, 3.) 9th Street. But my voting takes value into account--9th Street is probably better tasting than LeGrands, but you pay more so it is expected.
