Re: The Video Game Thread
I didn't have Uverse available in my area, so I switched from AT&T DSL to Charter Cable just for internet about 6 months ago and have been pleased.

I've got Dish and Uverse doesn't offer internet only. Plus, I love losing reception every time it sprinkles or my neighbor spits.TimeForGuinness wrote:Amen to that...although I've never had a bad thing to say about Charter's internet access...it was always solid. Uverse has been solid for me as well.
I'm just a little shocked that AT&T's fastest DSL speed is not availabe in my area, which isn't exactly out in the middle of nowhere. 3 (it's actually 1.5 but billed and advertised as 3) mbps doesn't cut it for streaming, so Charter's pretty much my only option.

That stinks. I get ATTs 6.0 mbps package and I consistently get 5.5 or above.

Man, that's gotta be 4 bars on Netflix streaming. I consistently get 2 bars and it looks like garbage.Michael wrote:That stinks. I get ATTs 6.0 mbps package and I consistently get 5.5 or above.

Charter's customer service blows and my cable box/DVR has been a pain in my ass, but their internet speeds are pretty good. I can torrent stuff at over 1 MB per second consistently.

Don't lead me wrong here, Tiger. Maybe I've got reps that are paid to push Uverse, but I'd love to pay 30-40 a month for a decent connection. I currently pay 30 for a really horrible connection that barely meets my porn needs. When I wanna watch midgets fisting on a yellow airplane, I want that plane to look yellow!Transmogrified Tiger wrote:I have internet only for U-Verse in Kansas.Tambourine Man wrote:I've got Dish and Uverse doesn't offer internet only. Yeah, I used to have both TV + Internet, but I realized I was barely watching any live TV between my HTPC and Netflix, so I dropped the TV and bumped up a level of internet. I pay $45 for what's advertised as 12mbps. I do a lot of streaming between Netflix and ESPN3 type stuff, and I don't have any problems at all except with an older laptop that stutters a bit at higher resolution. If I use the basic inspiron I got in January, everything looks like it's piped in.

To those who have Reach, add me. I'm "GeneralKird" on Live! I'm still getting used to the new DMR and having the vary the rate of fire so the final HS hits.
It would be nice if someone could compile all the gamertags and add them to the OP...
Campaign was pretty cool. Not sure if I liked the ending:

Target had a special if you bought both Reach and Red Dead Redemption, so I picked up both.
Red Dead Redemption is pretty good so far, though I just got started. I already like it a lot more than GTA 4, since I can actually see what's going on and the controls feel a lot tighter. However, the freaking menu font is nearly unreadable on a 32 inch LCD TV. I don't get how stuff like this makes it through testing/QC. I mean, it's a nice font. It looks like a Wanted poster and it's fine for large titles, but you don't have to stick with it for everything.
With Reach I tried playing multiplayer last night, and got into an Infection match. Wow, do I suck. I got killed as a zombie multiple times and killed no one myself. Read a few tips online so I may give that another go. Checked out the map editor, which was cool but I can't believe anyone sits down and actually uses it.
