At worst Lance dominated a level playing field, and spread a lot of hope where there is very little by lying about how he did so. Under the right circumstances, I personally hope America is quick to forgive him.

Yep. You got it. But that can be said by virtually every cyclist in the TDF. That sport flies under the radar, but mixing chemicals is a very important part of being an elite cyclists.
Federal prosecutors have intensified their criminal investigation of the cyclist Lance Armstrong since the end of the Tour de France last month. They questioned many of his former associates, including cyclists who have supported and detailed claims that Armstrong and his former United States Postal Service team participated in systematic doping, according to a cyclist who has been interviewed and two others privy to the inquiry.
I'm not sure that Lance hung around too long. He placed third in the Tour just last year, but it was hard to foresee that his performance would fall off the cliff in 2010.

He left his wife for Sheryl Crow, then broke an engagement to her for flings with Ashley Olsen, Kate Hudson, and, seemingly, Matthew McConaughey.
While Lance knows that his career is over, I am not sure that Gibson does.
The U.S. Anti-Doping Agency is bringing doping charges against seven-time Tour de France winner Lance Armstrong, questioning his victories in those storied cycling races.
The anti-doping movement of the past 10 years is one of most annoying movements ever. We should legalize steroids. I miss the days when a 36 year old baseball player could be prime for a break out season.
