My graduation song for my Parochial K-8 class was "Time of your Life" by Greenday. We had to change the lyrics to make it completely congruent with the LCMS.

Even little, passing phrasing like:
"Time grabs you by the wrist; directs you where to go." was too non secular, implying fate or something and had to be rewritten to say: "God grabs you by the wrist,"

The refrain from that song certainly isn't great, but it isn't offensively terrible for its genre. If Kesha would stop trying to rap and be edgy she'd just be a run-of-the-mill autotune pop princess.

The fact that her rapping and edginess propelled this to one of the bigger hits of the decade really makes me weep for our future.

I like the real song fine.

I don't think that was a very good cover, I didn't even recognize it from the first 9 seconds. I tried it again and got the same immediate cringe response.

then I googled the song title minus the cover artist and 9 seconds in I was nodding and smiling, "oh that song!"

the incorrect titling of the video as a "remix" threw me off. it is a cover version, or perhaps a parody, but not a remix.

here is the real song, I think it's fun, catchy, and of all the crap I hear piped into places, I don't mind this at all. Given, I've only heard it a couple of times and I'm sure it's overplayed, but just on its own merits, I like it fine.
