Actually, when someone misses a few days because of a condition that most of us give up sports permanently because of, we compare it to benching themselves for a hangnail.

Really? It didn't seem like we went very far at all.
Winning your group is like winning the NL Central division.
Exactly, that and a dollar will get you a cup of lousy coffee at the nearest gas station.
Besides, 4 teams vs 6 and 2 teams advancing instead of 1 ... doesn't even seem the same to me. And, I have to admit, I didn't realize we even won the group.

Just to clarify forum ground rules, if someone disagrees with me am I supposed to PM a mod?
And my point was we are ridiculously hard on baseball players who don't play 150+ games every season. J.D. Drew got such a bad rap for sitting games rather than play at 75% that by extension he was somehow a sissy when a pitch broke his hand.

And the guy was so dinged up he almost flunked his physical in Boston, yet the perception remains.

Ok luke, but that's a little overkill. When trying to out tough soccer players basically we are setting the bar somewhere in that Snow White/Cinderella neighborhood.
