Reading between the lines I come up with:

I've been there. Like the other night. No interrupting of others coitus though.

If I'd done one or the other- either the boots, or the barleywine- I would've been just fine. But in tandem, it was a freight train and I was on the tracks.

It's a quality product. What can I say? I'm gonna go all McGwire here. I didn't keep drinking barleywine because of my inner lush. I kept drinking it due to the quality.

Again, I'm learning the lesson of branching out to far. Why I did it, I do not know, but I bought a 6 pack of a weiss beer that in general I am not fond of. This was from a Chicago area brewer called Two Brothers, the beer Weiss Ebel's and it's really weird tasting ... as in weird I can probably drink it but only because I paid $8 for a 6 pack of the stuff.

I should have looked closer ... flowers on the label and this:

"With nice malty sweetness and a soft aroma of clove, vanilla, and banana".

Rest assured, clove, vanilla, and banana taste about as good as it sounds. And as I wrote I'm down to about 1/2 bottle left, and now I'm not so sure I can finish it.

Another sip ... It's just nasty. I'm not going to be able to finish this.

edit .. check that. Pair it with a Budweiser ... as in mix 3 parts Budweiser and 1 part this crap and it's drinkable.

Now we know what Boeing folks do in their spare time.

Hundreds of cans of beer on the wall

Image
Donald Roussin has more than 8,500 beer cans displayed in his house in Maryland Heights. Roussin has been collecting cans for about 30 years
and stores many of them in the basement. This panoramic image is composed of three photos taken with a fish-eye lens and electronically
stitched together to present a 360-degree view. (By Huy Mach/P-D)

The Beer-chelor needs help deciding which 3-4 beers to give a try.

Eyeing an impressive beer list for a place we're heading a couple weeks from now - deciding on my Valentine Day present to myself . I've narrowed it down to the below -skipped over the usuals and beers I've had b/f and skipping past certain styles (I'm done with wheats and belgian abbeys for now) So here's what's left. Any advice -

Bells Hopslam - is it knock you on your arse hops?. Hows it compare to Two Hearted Ale?
Blvd Farmhouse Ale - no idea what that is. But sounds good.
Founders Red Rye - I'm pretty decided to try this one.
Founders Porter - sounds damn good.
B*tch Creek ESB - anyone? I like the description of it and certainly would enjoy saying "give me a [expletive] Creek!"
[SHOW]
[expletive] Creek perfectly balances big malt sweetness and robust hop flavor for a full bodied, satisfying mahogany ale. Like the stream for which it is named, our [expletive] Creek ESB is full of character... Not for the timid.
Old Rasputin Imperial Stout -rich intense complex brew - gets 100% on ratebeer
Lion Stout -also highly rated, but I like the romantic description
[SHOW]
The 8.0 per cent abv, bottle conditioned beer is brewed from British, Czech and Danish malts with Styrian hops and an English yeast strain. All the ingredients are transported along precarious roads to the brewery located 3,500 feet above sea level.
Bear Republic Hop Rod Rye-does this compare to anything. its won a bunch of awards.

thanks for any feedback.

I haven't had those two from Founders, but I have had their Breakfast Stout, and Dirty Bastard, and both are excellent, though pretty hop-heavy for my understanding of the styles (oatmeal stout and Scotch ale). Of course if you're going after Bell's Two Hearted, then you're probably not too worried about bitterness.

Two Hearted is the best, Hopslam is even hoppier than that if you can imagine. If you like Two Hearted, chances are you'll dig all the flavor in Hopslam.

Hopslam is the only one I've tried, but it's incredible. I'd recommend it.

That imperial stout sounds really good, too.

i haven't read this thread in a long time, so not sure if anyone's mentioned Magic Hat lately.

Their spring seasonal, called Vinyl, is great. I was in Burlington a couple of weeks ago and picked up a couple of growlers for me and the missus.
