Hopefully Ringolsby is just as wrong as he was on the O's offer.fanforever wrote:3:20pm: ESPN's Buster Olney tweets that the Cardinals' offer to Holliday "is believed to be over $100MM" (guaranteed, he tells me). Additionally, Ringolsby replied to my email and clarified that he's been told the Cards' eight-year, $140MM offer is guaranteed both in years and dollars
That's pretty much the same thing, the longer you go the less AAV he gets. If he's a 4.5-win and you signed him for one year it'd be like $20 million. There's inflation and aging to deal with.Faceman wrote:I don't understand this. One is 15 per year for 8 years. The other is 18 for 5.haltz wrote:8/120 and 5/90 are pretty close to the same thing. In 2008 dollars you are paying him to be a 4.5 win player.
Buster Olney of ESPN.com reports that the Cardinals' offer to free agent outfielder Matt Holliday is "believed to be" over $100 million.
Boras might not net an eight-year, $180 million contract for his client like he did with Mark Teixeira last winter, but the $100 million threshold is a significant one. With Jason Bay off the table, there's little reason for the Cardinals to increase their offer at this time, so the previously reported eight-year, $140 million contract sounds like a stretch.

The tweet I posted on the fate of that taco has mysteriously disappeared. Let the speculation commence.sighyoung wrote:Speaking of concrete, heyzeus' breakfast taco should be holding a press conference shortly.phinstd wrote:Rumors, smoke, and innuendo.
