Metal Gear Solid 4.
Ooh, I do love me some MGS.

Rented AC 2. So far it's a little weird and clunky as far as controls go, but I could become obsessed really fast once I work out those kinks.

there's some rumors that the game failed so badly that they won't come back with a 2k10, therefore they might sell off the exclusive rights and we might be able to get EA's baseball game... of course simply fixing the problems with 2k9 without even focusing on new features or anything like that will make 2k10 light years better than 2k9

EA makes crap baseball games too. Sell the rights to whoever made High Heat and give them some legitimate graphics artists and we're talking.

Thanks all. I don't expect my 3-year old to get much out of it yet. It would be more for down the line for him. My daughter might like it, but I thought that about the DS, too.

the last EA baseball game I played was MLB 98 with A-rod on the cover in a Seattle uniform, so I don't know what their games are like now, but surely it's better than 2k9

On top of it, 2K games current graphics engine is far behind EA's. The uniforms in MLB 2k9 look terrible. Reminds me of NHL 2k9... but NHL 09 (and 10 for that matter) look fantastic.

DS isn't a bad option...lots of great games that are cheaper too. But only the 8 year old will be using it.

If you were a fan of the original Nintendo, they have an online store on the Wii so you can download a lot of the original titles (Tyson's Punch Out, Zelda, etc)...lots of fun.

If you can, find out what his friends have (DS vs Wii).
