I cut and welded a rig together for myself, but in a tiny apartment it took up about half my living room and it was a bit of an eyesore, so I ended up chucking it... I'm really tempted to buy a Playseat since it can fold up and save at least some space. It just sucks that I have a nice steering wheel and pedals and yet I have to use a regular controller to drive because the pedals slip away from me and the steering wheel is not comfortable to just hold at all.clevername wrote:it's on the way to me from Gamefly.
I'm still working through Modern Warfare 2. I've kinda gone crazy the last two weeks after trying out some racing games with a wheel and have been building my own little racing rig setup, so I haven't finished it yet. And the new Super Mario Bros. just go here. So Assassin's Creed is lower on my list right now, especially if it's not any different from the first one.

Re: The Video Game Thread
I just got through putting a frame together with PVC pipe. I just need the seat and to paint the thing.
It's basically this (this guy posted his design plans and I followed them):

I have a corner I can store it in and it's not too big, though in smaller rooms it certainly can be.

Looks awesome. After I graduate I want to look into getting a better wheel set. My current set doesn't have a clutch pedal and only has padel shifting.
Do you have the link to those instructions? I might look them over and consider making myself that rig. The bare steel was just really ugly, but for a good set up, I'd consider giving up the space.
EDIT: You should consider installing a sub under that seat to make it "feel" like a car.

Re: The Video Game Thread
yeah, Forza 3 is the main one I'll be playing once I get done with it, but I enjoy them for the arcade racers that work with the wheel, too. I'm not all sim.
And, of course, Gran Turismo 5 once it finally gets released.
Yeah, what's posted here is relatively tame. There are some setups with 3 screens mounted to the frame to give you a real front seat view with the periphery displayed on the sides. I've even seen pictures of some setups with a real car dash.

If you really wanna see people go all out, check out flight sim cockpits people have built. Some even use hydraulics and add motion to the set up. I've even see somebody take the fuselage of an F15 and rebuild the cockpit instrumentation to work with XPlane. It's pretty insane.clevername wrote:yeah, Forza 3 is the main one I'll be playing once I get done with it, but I enjoy them for the arcade racers that work with the wheel, too. I'm not all sim.
