I found the ending montage a little awkward and cheesy. Not horribly but it just bugged me a little. It was more or less a nod to fans, but it was weird for mcNulty to just pull over on the highway, get out of the car with the homeless guy in the passenger seat, take in the majesty/tragedy (trajesty?) of Baltimore and then get back in car.

I think I mentioned it before, but I also thought McNulty got off a little too lightly for his serial killer ruse. I mean that more in terms of how the writers treated him, as opposed to his penalties on the show. He's still somewhat glorified and vindicated. I wasn't a big fan of that whole storyline, really.

A minor thing that disappointed me -
[SHOW]
no follow up on that quick shot of Rawls being in that gay bar in Season 2 (or thereabouts).

I thought it was perfectly done leaving it at that. My guess is a lot of viewers missed it just as a lot of viewers missed

that it was Kenard [expletive] with the cat just prior to killing Omar.

You're right but I'm still somewhat disappointed. It's not that kind of show, but seeing that character get caught would have been awesome.

it was defintely a nod to the fans, but every season finale had some sort of montage like that...but i agree that jimmy getting out of the car to look was a bit "artsy" and seemed out of character

It would have been great to see Rawls go down like that.
I think McNulty, and to an extent Lester, got off but somewhat justifiably. But it's just another example of the police bureaucracy shuffling crimes, ignoring others, and not doing the right thing.
